AKIRA

Akira is an anime movie made in the 1980s and with it just passed its 30th anniversary. So in light of that I did a recreation of the movie poster plus some movie tickets for a reshowing of the movie. This piece was created using mixed media such as paint and ink, where I hand painted the background as well as used my Japanese skill set to create some custom Japanese calligraphy.

This also gave me the opportunity to use a camera and share my skills in photography, as well as photo editing in programmes such as Photoshop and Indesign in turn creating this rough and bold look reflecting the cinematography in Akira.
